April 12th The Sunday Times (UK) Interview with David

I recently found this by following David on Twitter (he & PMG are both there—@DavidRSoul & @MrPMGlaser). David Tweeted about it earlier this week. Among the news in it I don’t think the fans know/knew is he has a grandson (through 1 of his sons—China is still living in the U.K.; the grandson lives in the US).

PMG in 2 Eps of Season 5 of Netflix’s Original Show “Grace and Frankie”

So yesterday I was binge watching the new season (Season 5) of Netflix’s original show “Grace and Frankie” (Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin play 2 women who weren’t exactly the best of friends, whose worlds are turned upside down when their law partner husbands, played by Martin Sheen & Sam Waterston, announce that they’ve been in a gay relationship for the last 20 years & they’re now leaving their wives to marry each other).

I was pleasantly surprised to find PMG was in 2 of the 13 eps playing a character who is an old friend of Frankie’s (Lily Tomlin) whom she meets again while on a “girls’ weekend” with Grace (Jane Fonda) to a retreat at an ashram run by another old friend of hers (Frankie’s).

PMG’s part isn’t the biggest (I honestly think he might’ve taken it in order to keep his health insurance benefits with SAG-AFTRA... I remember reading that, at least years ago, an actor actually had to act in something every so often/within a certain timeframe, especially if they weren’t very active in the business to start with, to keep the health insurance benefits they’re entitled to as a member of SAG-AFTRA).

He’s in the 1st of the 2 eps more than the 2nd. He’s in the eps “The Retreat” (Season 5, Episode 6) & “The Ceremony” (Season 5, Episode 8).

Chuck McCann Has Passed Away, He Was 83

Sad to hear the news that Chuck McCann has passed away :(

Chuck McCann, the goofy, good-natured comedian and TV host who was a hero to kids of all ages in and around New York City in the 1960s before he jumped into films, network television and commercials, has died. He was 83.

Of particular note to SH fans, he was on the show twice:
- Silence (1976) as Larry Horvath
- Murder on Stage 17 (1977) as Wally Stone

I was a big fan of his voice work as well. He will be missed.

New Pics and New Show?

First of all, thanks to silver_cyanne for providing image space so we have a background again! I'll probably switch this out as the seasons change, but for now have some summer fun.

Secondly, not sure if you all saw the news on Variety - ‘Starsky and Hutch’ TV Reboot in Development With James Gunn
"This is the latest in a long line of rebooted TV projects in recent years. This fall, CBS will debut a rebooted version of “SWAT,” which was also a Spelling-Goldberg show originally. Also this fall, The CW will launch a female-centric reboot of “Dynasty.” NBC also recently ordered a rebooted version of “The Munsters” and “Miami Vice,” while ABC has ordered a live-action “Jetsons” series."

I didn't realize how many reboots were in the works! We shall see what become of the SH development.

Changes to the Starsky & Hutch Archive

We have closed down registration on the Starsky & Hutch Archive to stop repeated spam attacks. Spammers join the archive to post false "reviews" on authors' stories that are lists of links leading to merchandising and malware sites. The spammers leave sometimes a hundred false reviews that I have to delete one by one. It frustrates the writers who get notified about a flush of "reviews" only to find spam. We've been searching for a solution, but are restricted by the limitations of the archive's aging software.

Legitimate users can still join the archive by contacting me directly at flamingoslim@verizon.net or sending an email to dobey@starskyhutcharchive.net. You do not have to register to read stories on the archive. You only have to register to review (comment) on a story. WE WANT YOU TO JOIN. WE WANT YOU TO LEAVE COMMENTS ON STORIES. Reviews are the only "payment" authors receive for all their hard work. But there is currently no mechanism to moderate members who join. These spam attacks have been the most frustrating and time-consuming part of archive work. Closing down registration should stop them.

We are looking for long-term solutions to the problem of our aging software. We will keep the fandom informed of any future archive changes.
